Artist in Residence

For anyone wanting to make, feel, catch, or scatter something: in the middle of the woods. Each year, we are treated to a colourful gathering of artists and free-thinkers who descend upon RØSTIG. Some build something grand. Others let something small unfold. What they have in common: they bring a fresh perspective, energy, and wonder to our woodland grounds.

What is a RØSTIG residency?
You will be staying for 1 to 3 weeks in our ‘Residence’ – a cosy cottage on the RØSTIG Dorst grounds. You will work on your own project here in relation to this place: the forest, the silence, the fire, the other people. Everything is possible: installation, painting, sculptures, research, experiential art. The condition is that it touches upon the glamping. Literally or figuratively. No quiet seclusion, but a visible, tangible trace. So, no hermitage – we love exchange.

The place
You sleep in your own cottage or tipi. On the grounds, there are also stretch tents and perhaps other creatives who will be coming to make something, just like you. You share the garden, the campfire, and occasionally perhaps an idea. The cottage has a good bed, electricity, a covered terrace with a cooking stove and some basic kitchen utensils. Food? You can eat breakfast and lunch provided, but you'll need to arrange your own dinner. Coffee, tea, and soft drinks are always available.

Materials and tools
We enjoy building things ourselves, a lot. So, yes, we have supplies. Wood, metal, scrap materials, machines. But please check beforehand what you need. Not everything can be used independently – some equipment is worth befriending a technician for. If you need something specific, check with us to see if we might already have it. Additionally, you have the forest. The field. The fire. Nature. The people. The air. The morning dew. The possibilities.
